A Message from Kate...
Hello again!
I can’t believe how long it is since I’ve fully updated the site, and particularly since I’ve written a new Home Page letter to you all. Life has been so busy and occupied that I’ve barely had time to breathe, and write the books I’m contracted for.
But there have been a lot of other events taking up my time and keeping me away from contacting you. I’ve been teaching and so travelling the length and breadth of the country – in Wales and Derbyshire and Yorkshire and then in Wales again! And it looks like that’s going to keep happening as I get asked to do more and more workshops in various places. Some of these are to do with the great new contest that Mills & Boon Are now running to look for New Voices for all their romance lines. If you haven’t seen the news about this yet, or if you’d like to find out more and maybe enter the contest yourself, you can find the details over on http://www.romanceisnotdead.com where there is all the information you need. And if you’re interested in coming to any of my writing courses then take a look at the Events page where everything I’m doing is listed and you can find out if I’m coming anywhere near you.
Of course the teaching is interesting and fun, but writing my books is the most important thing for me. My book in the Greek Tycoons series was out in the UK in July and as I was travelling around the country, it was great to see that it had sold really well everywhere I went. This book will be published in America in the Harlequin Presents EXTRA series in October (pub date October 12th) in the Greek Tycoons collection. Since I last wrote, I’ve had another book accepted and scheduled. This will be The Proud Wife which is out in M&B Modern in the UK in March 2011. I also have a reprint in a 3 in one collection – The Italian’s Baby Bargain coming in September. I’m not totally sure which book of mine this is – it might be The Italian’s Forced Bride. I’ll let you know as soon as possible. Meanwhile, if you missed either of my last two books, Kept For Her Baby and The Konstantos Marriage Demand, both of these are still on sale on Amazon or eHarlequin – check out the books’ individual pages for details.
If you like buying your books as ebooks then Harlequin have been republishing many of their authors’ backlist titles . So if you have missed out on some of my past titles you can catch up on older novels in ebook form. Recently they have republished Their Secret Baby, The Married Mistress, and the three books in The Alcolar Family trilogy – The Twelve Month Mistress, The Spaniard’s Inconvenient Wife, and Bound By Blackmail in this format and there will be more to come. You can find these books in eHarlequin’s ebook store.
You’ll have noticed that there are some new titles (The Good Greek Wife? The Proud Wife) coming in. This is because all of the Mills & Boon books are being revamped and updated. There will soon be new covers for all the lines, and those new titles will start being used instead of the Greek Billionaires and their Virgin Mistresses. You can get a glimpse of the new covers over on the Mills & Boon site here: http://www.millsandboon.co.uk/makeover/index.asp The new covers are very different and it’s going to be interesting seeing them on the shelves. I’d love to know what my readers think of them too.
Other news about my books is that the 12 Point Guide To Writing Romance has sold out yet again, so a new edition, a reprint of the revised second edition, is being printed even as I write this. I haven’t see the cover of this edition yet but I’ll post it on the Writers page of this site just as soon as I get a copy. This new edition will no longer be published by Studymates but by Aber Writers Guides and I expect it to be available from October.
Meanwhile, as I’m sure you know, I’m still celebrating 25 years as a published author. I hope you’ve been enjoying the blog posts where readers and fellow authors talk about their first and favourite five Kate Walker stories. I’ve posted quite a few of them but I am still looking for more – specially for stories of how you first discovered my books and which one it was that got you ‘hooked’! I’m also working on the voting for the Top Ten Favourite Kate Walker titles. The details of this have been rather delayed as I’ve been so busy but I hope to post the current results on my blog very soon. You can still send in a vote for your top five favourites (emailed to me with Top Five Books in the subject line.)
Talking of the 25th Anniversary celebrations, I have had some rather special silver pens made to mark this special occasion and everyone who wins a contest will also win one of these. But if you live in the UK or America, then I can let you have one of them even without a win – here’s how –
USA readers - for USA readers Lee Hyat of Author Sound Relations is running a special giveaway from her Goodie Room where if you send her send a stiff or padded self-addressed envelope with at least $1.49 postage. She'll send you one of the pens and my special bookmarks.
Send your request to—

In the UK, if you email me your postal address, I’ll send you a special pen in the mail.
My apologies to readers anywhere else in the world, I haven’t managed to work out a way of sending out pens anywhere else without it costing a fortune. But if you enter a contest – or vote for your top five books then you’ll be in with a chance!
So I think that’s everything up to date - for now. I just want to take a moment to thank each and every one of my readers for your support and your interest in my books over these years. It has meant so much to me and, most importantly, has meant that I can continue to keep writing the books I love – and hope you do too
Happy reading!
